CATENARY CANOPY BY BD STUDIO MONA DAI & EVAN BROCK, , COMING TO PULP 2017

PULP: paper art party 2017 is an evening combining reclaimed materials installation art, live and DJ music, charity, and conversation. Join the conversation with #PULPartparty.

The environment is important, but PULP isn’t about lectures or presentations – we want people dancing, talking, playing, and creating. Inside a unique two-story space, artists will introduce guests to sustainable design through reclaimed material installations in an exciting social setting. PULP is a party that’s about more than just partying.

Among the 20+ artists and designers participating this year are Aleks Bartosik, BD Studio, and ALLO Studio. Visit our Art Page to see the designs coming to the event.

PULP is about community and sustainability. That’s why we use the funds we raise and the expertise of our designers to support a charity in Toronto every year. This year we have artist Ksenija Spasic working again with staff and youth at Evergreen Centre at The Yonge Street Mission. She is working with the centre’s art director, Ainsley Boyd, and street involved youth visiting the centre. This year, they are creating wearable art using reclaimed corrugated plastic. The youth will be special guests at PULP, flaunting their creations and rocking the party, so look out for out LED-illuminated masks and gauntlets, wings and head-dresses.

In addition, PULP is raising and will donate funds to Evergreen Centre for Street Involved YouthIn 2016 PULP donated over $1500 to the centre. Over the summer, Art Director Sharon Abel and Supervisor Aleke Dekker were able to launch a pilot project to create a social enterprise out of Evergreen: Jubilee Designs. This is a design and decor business idea that is founded on the creativity and resilience of the centre’s youth. Youth were able to focus on their primary goals such as mental health or housing stability, while working a few hours a week in a supportive and creative environment. They created beautiful decorations and accessories using discarded and re-purposed material, which will be sold in an Etsy Shop.
